Today Laura and I will be discussing our first coffee joint in B-burg, Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea. It is a coffee house, so to speak, but it's not really a house, more like a business. Going into this we saw good reviews, check, and they roast their own coffee, check, and also they're open (so far as we know) the latest, check.Laura: The latest being 10pm, which I call BULLSHIT
Colton: It's a sad excuse for a closing time for sure. We walked in, sat down, was hung down, brung down, hung up and all kinds of mean, nasty things and then we got up and went to the counter to ask for our drinks. Tiny drinks, like cortados, machiattos, con pannas, and the like, are all absent which made me reconsider how hard I wanted to test their skillz. I asked for a 12oz latte with an extra shot. The barista said "Kid, is that like this size?"(indicates what is at least a 20oz mug). I say "A small?" And he shows me the correct size. Ah jeez. Laura ordered some dumb flavored drink.
Laura: A hazelnut latte. I'm not ready to have my heart broken by shitty chai just yet. New relationships take time, gotta build trust. My latte was too sweet and I just now learned that their 12 oz drinks come with two shots. Trust building not going so hot. Upon our second visit, my Irish creme latte was much better. Slowly but surely tiny coffee shop, very slowly but surely.
Colton: Judging from my latte, their espresso was alright, which adds them to the growing list of shops that roast coffee but somehow come out with only okay espresso. Also sometimes just okay coffee. HOWEVER. The atmosphere is cozy, they have a large wraparound bar with outlets running underneath the bartop, and plentiful enough outlets that we returned to write their review on Laura's laptop.
Since Laura's already jumping ahead to the second visit, I'll add that I ordered a double espresso this time and turns out their espresso is pretty much just bitter. I was disappointed to find espresso worse than that I can make at home, but will acknowledge that this is a unique situation. They do have parking, though, which as a new B-burger, I appreciate.
Laura: They also display local art (yay!) and have an extensive food menu consisting of sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and ice cream. I think Gordon (Mr. Ramsay as some may know him, we're tight) would tell them to KEEP IT SIMPOH YEAH? The music doesn't suck either, THOUGH I have heard zero Andrew Bird so far. For shame.
Colton: And no Neutral Milk Hotel or Decemberists! What kinda hipster shop is this?!?
Laura: But to be honest, this will probably be the spot because it's open the latest. Baileys run on their own time, which is usually late.
Colton: The other coffee shop we've scoped out closes at EIGHT. What a fucking joke.
Laura: I miss you MLark, tell M. E. that I love her.
Grade

Colton: B-
